KLCAH: The report card of 100 days of governance is just the beginning “The real challenge for the Ismail’s cabinet is the soaring prices and the worsening of the epidemic”

As the cabinet led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is about to enter their first 100 day in office, ministers have been presenting their “100-day report card”. But the The Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall (KLCAH) believes that the challenge for each minister is just about to begin.

According to KLCAH, the situation in Malaysia in recent weeks has been a number of concerns, including the re-emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic gradually getting worse, many countries have emerged more persistent variant of the virus; although the economic activities have been fully reopened, but the pressure of rising prices came; and the downturn of the international economy further dragged down the stock market and global markets, domestic and foreign factors have received a direct impact, making our economic outlook in jeopardy, etc.

“Therefore, for Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s cabinet, the real challenge has only begun, and the performance over the past 100 days can only be considered a warm-up,” said KLCAH.

The hall believes that it is imperative to control prices, because the impact is directly and personally affected by the people, and the rising prices of bread, vegetables and building materials will further affect other goods, and the authorities need to have quick and effective action to control them.

“As for the outbreak, the Ministry of Health was right to make an immediate decision to stop the entry of people from countries where the variant virus is present, but the rising cases of the outbreak in the country is likewise a cause for concern.”

The number of new cases and cases under treatment continued to increase for two weeks, resulting in an increase in the number of cases requiring treatment at medical facilities; the overall utilization of medical facilities also started to rebound, with the Klang Valley’s Hospital being full again.

After analyzing the recent issues of national concern through the big data system, collecting online information and grasping most of the public opinion, the report was published by the Committee Member of KLCAH as a reference for the administration of those in power, and stated that the people hope the government will quickly take urgent measures to deal with the above-mentioned issues, otherwise the situation will be further aggravated.

“The economy, the people, and even the children cannot withstand another lockdown, so the fourth wave of the pandemic cannot erupt; no one can face the loss of their loved ones, the economic shutdown anymore, and we need to unite to get out of this mess.”

Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan, the president of KLCAH, said that in the past 100 days, people are pleased with the “freedom” brought by the reopening of all sectors, but at the same time, they are worried about the successive occurrence of extreme religious issues.

“Most of the nation does not want to see religious or racial controversies arise, so often when extremists, political figures or people with ulterior motives speculate on these sensitive issues, the nation is pretty turned off.”

According to him, the people are passionate about peace and stability, so when the Prime Minister proposed the idea of “Keluarga Malaysia”, it was accepted by the general public; and when there is a deliberate attempt to speculate on sensitive issues, the people of the country will overwhelmingly support the middle ground and enlightenment.

He stated that the results of the Melaka state election showed us that the nation wants to live in an enlightened and pluralistic environment, and the extreme policies proposed by the political parties are spurned by the nation, which should serve as a reminder to other politicians.

” The upcoming will be the state election in Sarawak, I hope there will be no more speculators trying to use the hype of sensitive issues to make cheap publicity and get down to business with policies and performance to win the support of the people.”
