KLCAH : government should learn from the experience of fighting the epidemic and saving the economy in the past 15 months

The Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall (KLCAH) pointed out that the people generally believed the government should learn from the experience of fighting the epidemic and saving the economy in the past 15 months.

For a complete recovery plan or financial assistance plan to be enacted, incorporate the opinions and perceptions of professionals from various fields. Rather than working behind closed doors, in the end, apart from wasting time to change policy over and over, it also wasted the golden moment of protecting people’s lives and saving the economy.

“We heard complaints from the people, and the voices of dissatisfaction have arisen now and then. We believe that the government has been repeating mistakes, making ineffective decisions including enacted standard operating procedures (SOP), vaccination arrangements, financial assistance packages, and others.”

KLCAH agree to the opinion of convening the Parliament and state assembly meetings as soon as possible, announced at the special meeting of the Conference of Rulers; it also agreed that the focus on the lives and living of the people, the promotion of the national COVID-19 vaccination campaign should be the country priority. Besides reducing bureaucracy and with an inclusive, learning, and adjustment mindset, formulating policies that include all stakeholders to improve and explore new areas hence win the trust and cooperation of people from all sectors.

“The Malay rulers have also seen that political instability will lead to the failure of the anti-epidemic efforts. The government should respond immediately to implement the wishes of the rulers and the people.”

KLCAH pointed out that the people generally believe that the government and related ministers or officials should not be the only party to determine the country’s prospects. On the contrary, integrate the professionals from various fields and refer to each country’s method to set the most suitable strategy.

After collecting and analysing data on the Internet, KLCAH issued a statement stating that our country’s economic recovery is slow. The speed of vaccination is not as fast as that of foreign countries. Coupled with omissions in epidemic controlled, it led to the second and even worse third wave of the epidemic to occur, hence shaken the people’s confidence in the government’s fight against the epidemic.

“The loss of people’s confidence in the government is a major crisis, which will lead to the government action may not be able to receive cooperation. While confronting the worst crisis in history, the whole country must be united and single-minded to achieve the goal.”

KLCAH President Datuk Seri KK Chai emphasized that the polls mentioned above were obtained through data collection and analysis on the Internet and included the view of members of the KLCAH and the public.

He said that since our country, and even the world, currently only relies on the vaccine to control the epidemic and rejuvenate the economy, our government should take the initiative and do whatever it takes to secure a sufficient vaccine supply soon as possible.

“At present, too many people in the country have lost their lives due to the epidemic. We faced tragedy, the death of close relatives, the loss of parents, and the loss of children. We must wait no more.”

KLCAH collected and analysed the economic revitalization packages of the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and other countries. We urge the government to refer to these countries’ strategies to help our country businessmen tide over the difficulties and restore vitality as soon as possible.

Datuk Seri KK Chai said that many European countries and China have gradually controlled the epidemic and made every effort to revitalize the economy. Our government should follow these successful examples, including the vaccination strategy, to not waste time and go wrong.
