PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has revealed the name of his new political party as Pejuang.

In a blogpost, Mahathir, the former PPBM chairman, said the struggles of his old party have been cast aside.

Last week, Mahathir said he will set up a new independent Malay political party which, at the time, remained unnamed.

The veteran politician, who turned 95 last month, had previously said he might join an existing party or form a new one.

He said he and other former PPBM leaders including Mukhriz Mahathir, Maszlee Malik, and Marzuki Yahya needed to create a new party to fight corruption as the other Malay parties had strayed from the original path and prioritised money and power.

In his statement today, Mahathir repeated his reasons for wanting to form a new party.

“Corruption destroys our race, corruption destroys the Malays. If you want positions and money choose other parties.

“If you want to regain your honour, if you want to defend our rights, choose our party, choose Pejuang.”–FMT
